One of the greatest strengths of the candidacy of the Republic of Poland and the City of Łódź for the International EXPO 2022 is the proposed location of the Exhibition, which is located in the very centre of Europe, Poland and the centre of the City, being part of the core zone for revitalization of the Metropolitan Zone.
Exhibition in the very centre of the city also means excellent transport communication of the area. The presence of the Łódź Fabryczna station affects both the ability of providing transport communication services for the participants and visitors (train, airplane, car, bus), as well as the ability to handle the services for the exhibition on the logistic side of everyday supplies of materials, food or water.
Return to the roots of EXPO
The proposed location is the return of EXPO to the city centre - this is a theme related to the roots of EXPO and perfectly matches the idea of revitalization and the development of the city "inward". BIE supports the proposal of Poland and Łódź.
The proposed location is in line with the guidelines of the International Exhibition Bureau. BIE requires the organization of the Exhibition on an area of not more than 25 ha. The area should be as compact as possible, facilitating the organization of the Exhibition and moving visitors within. The area should be permanently fenced to allow control of the movement of people and letting in only the visitors with tickets.
Some of the support, administrative and conference functions, etc. can be located outside the main Exhibition area (outside the 25 hectare limit).
In addition, the site should allow for permanent and temporary construction of pavilions of various purposes (international pavilion, thematic pavilions) and special buildings, which will be used as much as possible after the end of the Exhibition. The maximum exhibition space for one participant (exhibitor) cannot exceed 1000 m2.
