Although EXPO world fair in 2022 will not be held in Łódź the government is not going to withdraw from its plans and promises concerning investments.

- Independently of the result of voting majority of the Expo related projects will be executed – declared Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of Łódź, just after Buenos Aires was chosen ahead of Łódź. – In last couple of years Łódź has changed more than throughout last decades. Reaching the final of the competition to host Expo is a great success itself. Nothing ends today. We will continue to invest even more, work even harder and love Łódź even stronger. We are just getting started. Thank you all and my congratulations to the Argentinians – added Zdanowska

In next year budget the government has earmarked PLN 360,000,000 to prepare Łódź to host EXPO. In spite of the fact that finally it will be held in Argentina the majority of this money is to be invested in the city and in the region. Additionally, what we have mentioned in one of the previous updates, Łódź will gain European funds for area revitalization. It will amount to almost one billion PLN in total. How will this money be invested?

Łódź will get a city tunnel connecting Łódź-Fabryczna and Łódź -Kaliska railway stations. Construction of Central Communication Port is also planned between Łódź and Warsaw. Polish Post plans to build its Central Logistic Hub, which will ultimately cooperate with the Central Communiation Port.

Furthermore the government is planning to subsidise University of Łódź with PLN 21,000,000. Cultural centres will benefit from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2022 receiving over PLN 65,000,000.
